The Mustangs family would like to congratulate former South Shore Mustangs defenseman and Yarmouth native Ryan Graves on his incredible 2013 - 2014 hockey season. We're all very proud of this young man's accomplishments. Ryan was an NSMMHL All star defenseman for the Mustangs in the 2011 season.
Ryan had a great 2013 year by first being a New York Rangers draft pick in last years NHL draft and followed that with a fanstastic Rangers rookie camp and main camp. A few months later, the Rangers organization signed Ryan to a well earned three year deal.
During this season with his QMJHL Val d'Or Foreurs team Ryan logged big minutes along with being assigned heavy defensive responsibilities. All the hard work paid off as his Val d'Or team won the QMJHL Championship in a hard fought seven game battle in the leage finals to win the Presidents Cup. With that huge win, it was onto the CHL Memorial Cup, where again Ryan played big minutes and many key situations.
A heart breaking triple overtime loss in the Memorial Cup semi finals against the Edmonton Oil Kings ended their sesaon. Ryan was named the games 2nd star in this 6 period semi final battle. A fantastic hockey game displayed by both these championship teams.
Great job Ryan ! It was fun watching you on this great championship run. The Mustangs organization wish you all the best on route to your professional career.
