Rangers Agree to Terms With Ryan Graves

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Ryan Graves.
Graves, 18, has registered five goals and 17 assists for 22 points, along with 68 penalty minutes and a plus-20 rating in 65 games with the Charlottetown Islanders and Val-d’Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) this season. He has established career-highs in goals, assists, and points, while his plus-20 rating is currently a career-high. In 26 games since joining the Foreurs, Graves has posted a plus-22 rating. He ranks sixth on Val-d’Or in plus/minus rating, and ranks fourth among Foreurs defensemen in goals, assists, and points. Graves began the season with Charlottetown, where he registered 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 39 games prior to his trade to Val-d’Or. He tallied six points (one goal, five assists) in a six-game span with the Islanders from December 7 to December 20, including a career-high, four-game point streak (one goal, three assists).
The 6-4, 225-pounder has skated in 195 career QMJHL contests over three seasons with Prince Edward Island, Charlottetown, and Val-d’Or, registering 10 goals and 37 assists for 47 points, along with 192 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. Graves began his QMJHL career with P.E.I. in 2011-12, recording two goals and seven assists for nine points, along with 34 penalty minutes as a rookie that season. Prior to the season, he was selected by P.E.I. in the first round, ninth overall, of the 2011 QMJHL Entry Draft.
The Yarmouth, Nova Scotia native was originally selected by the Rangers in the fourth round, 110th overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
