Rookie netminder Corey Peterson made 21 saves for his first NSMMHL shutout Sunday morning in Chester and Morgan Messengers (assists Avery Clarke, Shaun McEachern) first period power play marker stood up as the game winner as the South Shore Canadian Tire Mustangs skated by the pesky Valley Wildcats 1-0 in a hard fought battle. 

Peterson is 3-0 in his last 3 starts with a tidy 1.66 goals against average in those 3 starts.

With the win the Mustangs improve their team record to 8-3 and are off to one of the best starts in the teams recent history.

Jonathan Boutin was strong in goal for the Wildcats stopping 31 of 32 in a losing cause.

Next up for the Mustangs is a tough test in the 2nd place Dartmouth Taylor Flooring Midgets.  Dartmouth currently sits 1 pt ahead of the Mustangs in the chase for 2nd place in the NSMMHL.

Game time at the Bridgewater Memorial Arena is 8:00pm this Tuesday
