Harnish Hat Trick, Skinners saves lead Mustangs over Ice Dawgs

The South Shore Canadian Tire Mustangs upended the first place Dartmouth Ice Dawgs Sunday in Chester 4-3 behind a 36 save performance from Cole Skinner and a hat trick from Captain Jagger Harnish.

The South Shore Canadian Tire Mustangs upended the first place Dartmouth Ice Dawgs Sunday in Chester 4-3 behind a 36 save performance from Cole Skinner and a hat trick from Captain Jagger Harnish.

Skinner was especially sharp in the third period making 14 saves in the third to protect the one goal lead and stopping 5 shots with a minute left and the Dartmouth net empty for an extra attacker.

Harnish scored one even strength (Bailey, Patterson), one on the power play (Quinlan, Verge) and the game winner in the third, short handed (Verge).

Rounding out the scoring was Jon Hatt on the powerplay to tie the score at 3 late in the second period. (McEachern, Challoner)

Skinner was strong in stopping 36 of 40 shots, while former Mustang Evan Deviller took the loss stopping 14 of 18 shots.

With the win, the Mustangs move into a 5th place tie with the Cape Breton Tradesmen .

The Canadian Tire Mustangs are back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Cole Harbour. Game time is 7:30pm
