Stangs take 3 of 4 weekend pts!

The South Shore Canadian Tire Mustangs had a successful weekend at home taking 3 of a 4 possible points in their two games against the Cape Breton West Islanders.

On Saturday night Jagger Harnish led the Mustangs with 2 goals and 2 assists.  Jon Hatt (Goal and assist), Connor O’Brien (Goal and assist) and Tyler Peterson also scored in the 5-3 win.  Billy Clarke earned the win in goal making 27 saves.

On Sunday, the Mustangs had another strong effort outshooting the Islanders 31-12 after regulation.  A late powerplay goal with 26 seconds remaining in regulation sent the game to overtime which solved nothing.  Jarrett Martel with a nifty move to his backhand ended the game for the Islanders in the shoot out.  Cole Skinner suffered the loss making 13 saves on 16 shots while Jeffrey was strong in stopping 28 of 31.  Brandon Challoner led the Mustangs with a goal and an assist while Jamie Blair and Shaun McEachern rounded out the scoring.

The Mustangs have one regulation loss in their last 4 games.  A 2-1 setback to the Valley Wildcats.

Tuesday night the Mustangs are back on the ice at the Bridgewater Arena when they take on the Halifax Titans.  The Mustangs will be looking to put forth a better effort than the last time the 2 teams met in Bridgewater when the Titans skated away with a 9-3 win.
