The Canadian Tire Mustangs travelled to Kentville on Tuesday night for a pre-season exhibition contest with the Valley Wildcats. This game was the first test for the Mustangs as a team, while the Wildcats are still trimming their roster. Both teams had many quality opportunities, however, it was goaltending that was the difference for both squads. Evan DeViller and Billy Clarke combined for 28 saves in the 2-1 victory for the Mustangs, while Brandon Whitney and Daniel Fraser stopped 53 of 55 shots in the loss.

The Mustangs had many quality scoring chances in this hard hitting, and fast paced game. It was fitting that Mustang Captain Graham Mann scored the first Mustang goal of the season on a partial breakaway through the legs of Fraser, and Rookie Cale Duffus notched a Power Play marker with only three minutes left to better the Valley squad 2 goals to 1. The Mustangs next game is Friday September 11th vs. the Halifax Taylar Made Titans in New Glasgow at 2:00 pm during the NSMMHL Early BIrd Tournament. Check back for more updates as the season progresses!
